The Thursday Night Contra Dance is run by the Country Dancers of Rochester (CDR). CDR is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors both Contra Dances (now at 295 Gregory Street!) and English Country Dances. Our dances are participatory, open to all, with live music, sliding fee scale and are substance-free. Newcomers are always welcome. Dances are taught and prompted by a caller using gender-free role terms. No partner or special dress needed — dress comfortably and wear soft-soled shoes. We dance every Thursday at 7:30pm. First time? Come early for a beginner’s lesson at 7:10!
